Not only do I have a passion for the landscapes of West Marin and the organic producers and proprietors that work these lands, but I love organic food and the sustainable farming and packaging movements. I have worked as the volunteer communications coordinator for Art on the Farm, and feel very connected to our local farmers. I have worked for many organic food companies in the Bay Area. I love healthy food, healthy lifestyle and helping to give back to those in our community who are working to make this planet a better place for all. PURCHASE PRINTS

Cycling
I have been painting bikes and cyclists since 2005. It started with a single painting of my favorite, local coffee shop in San Anselmo, where all the cyclists and mt. bikes would begin their Saturday rides. The town banded together to purchase my painting for the shop owner. My personal love of biking and cycling has kept me painting scenes with bikes since then. Contact me | PURCHASE PRINTS
My most recent contract job in San Francisco allowed me the privilege of doing a partial bike commute, sometimes from Sausalito to work, and other days, from the Presidio over Fort Mason hill to North Point. This is a painting celebrating my favorite part of the commute, on a morning where the rain had just stopped and the sun was warming the trees over Fort Mason.
This oil painting on 1.5" stretched canvas is 18" x 36" 3 feet wide, and 1.5 feet tall.

Buildings
I used to sketch a lot of architectural renderings of buildings in my art school days. I painted churches and homes in the Dordongne region of Southern France and the churches in Paris. At RISD, I sketched every step and the banister of the house I was dorming in on Benefit Street. Here in Marin, I have enjoyed capturing several of our favorite local haunts too, from coffee shops to chapels. It is wonderful to be able to document structures we love in paint.

Water
Growing up the daughter of a swim coach and less than a mile from Long Island Sound, I was constantly by the water. I am very grateful to say that swim team, sailing, synchronized swimming, lifeguarding, boating, fishing and even windsurfing were all a part of my life. After moving to Northern California in 1995, I frequently hiked and painted the many beaches of Point Reyes National Seashore. I loved taking my sons to surfing and sailing lessons and hiking the vast, open spaces by the California Coast.
For over two decades, I gave a percentage of my sales back to organic farming non-profits, the land and communities where I’ve lived and painted. Protecting the oceans, water supply and earth have never been more important to me.
My paintings and art created from Maui to Maine have focused on the land and oceans, and I have always been committed to learning as much about the needs of local communities where I paint while doing so with an environmentally focused plan. We must commit to organic practices and reach net zero for our oceans and watersheds.
Windsailing into the Wave
A windsurfer rising above the green blue waves in Santa Cruz, California. First of a windsurfing series started in Sept. 2020.
“A windsurfer carves through the blue and green waves off the coast of Santa Cruz, California on a bright sunny day. Pelicans fly above through the mist against the clear blue sky. The golden cliffs and green hills are visible in the background. Red and yellow lines of the sail sweep across the canvas and the movement of the water, from left to right flows along with the sailor. You feel the motion of the surfer in this image, as he flies with the pelicans, across the powerful sea.” -C.Proppé
Trees and Mountains are all around us, and are frequently painted in my landscape work. It is amazing to me how unique the trees of California are, as compared to those on the East Coast, or in Hawaii. As we move into this time of radical climate conservation to avoid global warming, species loss, and preserve our planet, there is no more critical moment to protect and plant trees. Invest in the oceans. Do everything we can to prevent loss of nature and liveable land for the future generations. It’s no longer an option to ignore climate change. Earth is the most important gift we have and it must be protected.
"Where the Mountains Dance with the Sea" Maui, Northshore 2021
I moved to Maui in 2020 and was lucky enough to be able to cycle, camp, study oceanography and write songs while seeking work during the start of the pandemic. It was possibly the most surreal time of my life, but the beauty of nature and the abundance of fresh fruits and organic produce was extraordinary. The colors of the water and shapes in the mountains were so different than anything I’d ever seen before. The red clay of the volcanic earth against the aqua blue and green water, the diamond shapes in the green mountains, green geckos, sea turtles and tropical fish I’d only seen in pictures and videos. I don’t think most people understand how lucky they are to have traveled places in their lifetime. This was an epic moment for my brain. Not only did I learn about the difficulties of island living for many, but the joys of embracing a simpler life that is based around the ocean, farming and music. Incredibly grateful for this experience.
